Dear Joe,
I know you, Joe, you love the Senate. BUT, the CORRUPT United States Senate needs to be subjugated as inescapably corrupt, un-representative, and un-democratic like the House of Lords.
EVEN WITHOUT the filibuster, the unrepresentative Citizens United v. FEC "dark money" SENATE is inherently un-representative and un-democratic. With strict majority rule in the senate, the 26 least populous states (52 senators) with a population of 58,902,718[1] (18% of the population) could do anything and the 24 largest states 272,907,690, 82% of the population are dictated to. If Citizens United v. FEC "dark money" knows anything, it knows how to count.
EVEN without the filibuster corruption of the un-representative un-democratic Senate needs just 18% to do anything.
The population of the 21 smallest states (42 Senators) is 37,918,594 or 11% of the total population can stop / negate anything. Therefore, with a filibuster, 11% of the population can DICTATE negatively and stop 89% of the population from doing anything, with the filibuster.
With the filibuster corruption of the un-representative un-democratic Senate needs only 11% to STOP anything!
Now you might mistakenly ASSUME that with 30 states and their 60 senators needed to overcome a filibuster would REQUIRE a majority. WRONG!!!! The 30 least populated states (60 senators) with a population of 80,549,406, amount to 24% of the total population. 24% can DO anything, overcoming any filibuster and dictating to the 76% of the population (251,261,002).
With the filibuster corruption of the un-representative un-democratic Senate needs only 24% to do anything!
The percentages are uncontestable, based on the "Apportionment Population and Number of Representatives by State: 2020 Census." These percentages are just minimums. Any decision based on less than 51% are inescapably - - un-representative, un-democratic and corrupted.
PLEASE – know those that want to corrupt the un-representative and un-democratic Senate can count.
