Trump's America Needs To Get Over Itself!
Aaron Sorkin and Jeff Daniels made a pretty good case for America's current lack of Greatness. "The most honest three and a half minutes of television, EVER..." (https://youtu.be/16K6m3Ua2nw?si=gE_8mZ6vpWckQTvt). Now I am no Aaron Zorkin or even a Jeff Daniels. But I am a little more historically aware.
Trump's America wants to believe in Ronald Reagan's con of the "Bright Shining City on the Hill" that America built.
· As a country "America" does not exist.
· As an exemplar of a representative democracy, we have for 250 years been lying to ourselves.
Someone has stolen the RULE OF LAW. The law is currently unknowable. We the People need the saturation of local juries to define the law. We do not need someone to tell us what was ratified by our Everyman predecessors.
As a country America does not exist.
America at best and at worst describes a hemisphere. America is a compilation of North America, Central America and South America.
The Constitution for the United States refers to itself 52 times internally as the "United States." Only twice does it include, the thus optional, descriptive prepositional phrase "of America."
When Trump says he wants to Make America Great Again, I know he is not talking about the hemisphere… Mexico, Canada, Central or South America. There are entirely too many brown-skinned people. Trump wants to wall himself off from the American hemisphere.
There is no country called America! Trump is the President of the United States, though uniting is the last thing Trump wants to do.
As an exemplar of a successful representative democracy
For 250 years We the People have been lying to ourselves.
Our Founding Fathers saddled We the People with an inherently unrepresentative and undemocratic controlling body, the Senate.
The Senate is inescapably inherently unrepresentative. In a unrepresentative "dark money" senate majority, without regard to party, 52 of the senators, from the 26 least populous states amount to a minimum 18% of the population. The Senate is so unrepresentative and so undemocratic[1] that it made for itself the filibuster rule that allows 42 senators from the 21 smallest states with a minimum 11% of the population to BLOCK it from doing anything!
The House of Representatives can make a lot of noise but can not pay their own light bill without the concurrence of the Senate and its filibuster.
Now, since just before the Civil War, We the People have been sub-servantly ruled over by an unconstitutional despotic oligarchy's judge-made-law.
To this day!
Nowhere in the amended constitution is judge-made-law so much as referenced much less authorized.
Did you ever wonder why Dredd Scott thought he was free, because he had lived in a free state? Dredd Scott got the idea before our revolution. From the English Common Law juries of 1763, the assumed basis for the United States legal system and laws.
The Common law of England with local juries, domestically, had freed their slaves and GIVEN them real enforceable rights and relief prior to our revolution. "If a man sets foot on English Soil then he is free." Lord Henley 1763 (Shanley v Harvey [1763] 2 Eden 126) in which the then Lord Chancellor, Lord Henley held in obiter remarks that as soon as a person set foot on English soil, they become free and may bring an action against their former master for ill-treatment.
Dredd Scott just wanted his freedom, but by English Common law, the basis on United States law, he could have sued for back wages and damages.[2]
America holds itself up as the bastion of freedom and democracy but it can be ruled by 11% of the population.
The biggest immediate impediment to representative democracy in America today is the despotic oligarchy on the supreme[3] Court. 5 of 9 persons can block any law (see 22-451 Loper Bright Enterprises v. Raimondo (06/28/2024)) or hand out absolute immunity from the Constitution and laws to anyone (see 23-939 Trump v. United States (07/01/2024)).
And on this one, the Founding Fathers are without fault. The Senate is without fault. The supreme[4] Court is running a COMPLETE bluff[5] on We the People. For as Thomas Jefferson said in 1820:
"I know no safe depository of the ultimate powers of the society, but the people themselves (think "Voting," "due process of law" & "juries"): and if we think them not enlightened enough to exercise their controul with a wholsome discretion, the remedy is, not to take it from them, but to inform their discretion by education. this is the true corrective of abuses of constitutional power." (Thomas Jefferson 9/28/1820, in writing to Mr. JARVIS, from Monticello – bolding / underlining / parentheticals added)
Show me where in today's amended Constitution for the United States judge-made-law is called for or authorized. IT AIN'T THERE!!!

You know what makes the bright shining cities of yesterday or today. It ain't the enlightenment of the forefathers. It ain't the written constitution they forced upon us.
The bright shining cities of today are bright shing because We the People squatted on the last undeveloped fertile-crescent-like[6] continent on the planet. We the People are no better than Donald Trump, the spoiled rich kid, we inherited EVERYTHING and have squandered much of it.
