AI Data Center Project - "Construction of that facility, which is being built on a site the size of roughly 1,700 football fields, is expected to finish by 2030."
An NFL football field is a minimum of 120yds(field 100yds+2 endzones 10yd each) by 160 ft wide. 120 yds = 360ft. 360 feet by 160 ft. = 57,600 sf. 1,700 football fields @ 57,600 sf ea. = 97,920,000 sf (2,247 acre.)
1,700 football fields EQUALS 97,920,000 sf (2,247 acre).
A 97,920,000 sf., $26,000,000,000 = $265.52/SF. $265/SF is reasonable for commercial construction building and Site, but UNREASONABLE for data center BUILDING development alone.
Data Center building development WITHOUT any site cost has to be near $2,000 /sf.
Traditional data centers -The size of the average onsite data center can vary from 20,000 to 100,000 (1/2 acre to 2 acres) square feet with around 2,000 to 5,000 servers, according to IBM.
More importantly is the electrical consumption for data centers. Hyperscale data centers - While older facilities might have been 30 MW, the average is growing rapidly, with many campuses now reaching 200 MW and above.
So lets say that the current 1,700 Football Field DATA CENTER PROJECT is at least one current Hyperscale data centers requiring at least 30 MW if not 200 MW and above.

"In 2023, Louisiana's total net summer electricity generating capacity was 24,963 MW." The "massive Hyperion data center" in rural Louisiana could add 200? 400? 2,000 MW – requiring a 10% plus in crease in current capacity. Who pays for it now, who pays for rate increases going forward.
